November is not the greatest month for gardening. It’s cold, it’s damp and most gardens just look uncaraed for at this time of year. But if you do get some dry wweathr there are always things you can do to make a start on next year’s gardening. And if you don’t you can alwaysd make some plans and promises to yourself about next year’s gardening.
If you feel as though your garden isn’t as neat as it could be, or if you want to make a change to your home’s outdoor space but don’t know where to start then this is the guide for you. Here you will find out what steps you can take to ensure that your garden is kept nice and neat, so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
Clean Up Regularly
The first thing you need to do is clean up regularly. Take a walk around your garden and pick up everything you can see with a garden waste bag. Pick up any fallen branches, rubbish and anything else you see lying around. If you can do this now then you will see a huge improvement to your space and how it looks. By doing this now, you can also pinpoint any areas of improvement, which is great, to say the least. You might also want to get a quote for a dumpster to get rid of stuff as and when it’s needed.

Sweep your Decking and Rake Leaves
Don’t let fallen wet leaves ruin the condition of your walkways. If you do this alongside pressure washing then this will help you to make sure that you are always ready to welcome guests, so keep that in mind.

Create a Regular Weeding Schedule
Weeds can wreak havoc on your garden. It’s so important that you keep up with regular garden maintenance where possible. Regular watering, along with lawn mowing helps you to stop weeds from coming back time and time again. It also helps you to limit plant disease.
Deadheading is also important. Using your hands, pick off any dead flower heads so new ones can come through. This forces your plants to keep on producing, making them look great for your garden. Keep an eye out for any plants that might not be doing so great while you’re doing this, so you can nip any issues in the bud.
Fertilise Plants
Incorporate some slow-releasing fertilisers into your potting mix. Remember, not every plant needs this, and if you overdose on things like fertilizer then you may end up scorching the roots of your plant. Make sure that you use larger and infrequent doses of fertilizer, and dilute it by half every time you water your plants. If you can do this then you should see a huge improvement in your plant health. If you want to water your plants more efficiently, check out GardenTech – composters and water butts.

Keep an Eye on Pests
When you are tidying your garden, you have to keep an eye out for pests. If you don’t then you may find that you end up having to deal with them way more than you’d like but all of this can be avoided. If you do see that you have pests then you can put down some pesticides. That being said, if you have pets then you may want to avoid doing this. One way for you to work around this situation would be for you to use natural remedies. Crumbled eggshells are great for slugs for example, as they don’t like to crawl over it. It alshelps to add a nice amount of nutrients to your soil as they break down.
